Distribution Research: Get Out

Get Out has the same genre as my film, thriller/horror, and a similar target audience, young people (14-23). When distributing their film, Get Out used Blu-Ray, Youtube Movies, Google Play, iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu. By streaming their movie through these sites like iTunes, Get Out is advertising to a younger crowd as they stream more than watching movies in a theater. Also, Get Out is allowing people to watch their film anywhere by using their smartphone, iPad, and laptop. Get Out also used Blu-Ray as the movie is providing it's viewers with a higher resolution version of their film with faster playback and internet connectivity. I will utilize streaming through Amazon Prime, Youtube Movies, and iTunes to advertise to my target audience, young people, and to allow people to watch my movie in the comfort of their home, on the road, in a plane, etc. I will also use Blu-Ray to distribute The Neighbor as it allows people to watch my film in high quality and it makes m...

Distribution Research: A Quiet Place

The movie A Quiet Place has the same genre as my film, thriller/horror, and a similar target audience, young people (14-23). A Quiet Place distributes their movie through Blu-Ray, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, and Youtube Movies. To distribute my film, I will stream my movie by using Amazon Prime and Youtube Movies as younger people stream movies than go to the movie theater. A Quiet Place used streaming as they have a younger target audience, and streaming is the new DVD. This is because the younger generation prefers streaming as they can enjoy movies anywhere by using a smartphone, iPad, laptop, and television. By using Blu-Ray, we are offering our movie at a more expensive price than streaming, but a better movie experience as Blu-Ray is known for its high quality, quick playback, and great internet connection. A Quiet Place uses Blu-Ray as they would like to offer their audience a higher quality video. This is important as A Quiet Place is a thriller/horror m...

Distribution Research

The different types of traditional distribution for a mid-tier film are VOD, streaming, downloads, and DVD/Blu Ray. Mid-tier films are advertised through these devices as these films allow people who did not want to see it in theaters, watch it in the comfort of their home. The large budget movies will draw more people into the theaters, and these movies make maximize profits from movie ticket sales at theaters worldwide. Since our movie is a mid tier, our group plans on distributing The Neighbor through streaming, downloads, and Blu-Ray. By releasing The Neighbor on websites like Amazon Prime and Netflix more people will watch it as younger people (our target audience) stream movies instead of watch them in movies. Blu-Ray is also a good resource to use as our movie will be played in extremely high quality, faster playback, and enhanced network/internet connectivity.

Revision-Location

Image
On February 21, I noticed that the house neighboring mine was knocked down, which was Patty's house in our film The Neighbor . To revise Patty's house in our film, we decided to use the house across from mine as it is old, run down, and creepy looking. By doing this, we did not have to change our shots we used for the movie, but adjust them. For example, the establishing shot in the beginning now starts at Patty's new house and moves to Ally's house.

Market Plan

Image
Instagram: By making an Instagram page for The Neighbor , we are marketing to a younger audience.  This is because in 2017, 2.46 billion people in the world used social media (Statista 2019) and 86% of these users are 18 to 29 years old (Cohen 2017). We will be attempting to market to younger people in high school and college by posting new, exciting pictures almost everyday. By doing this, we will expect our follower base to grow as people who enjoy our actresses and like thriller films will want to follow. Because we will have a decent follower base, our followers can send our posts to their friends via direct message, or repost the movie's pictures on their feed. Since we are marketing our film through Instagram, we will buy a few Instagram ads so we can feature The Neighbor to younger people. Instagram ads are a good idea for marketing The Neighbor as we can assign a certain age group to see our advertisement on their feed as Instagram has access to their users' birthdays...

Target Audience Research: Kidnap

Image
Our target audience for  The Neighbor  is advertised to people within the age range of 14-23 that live in the United States as they can relate to the high schoolers in our film since they currently go to high school or went a few years ago. The gender of our target audience is primarily young women since the main characters in The Neighbor are women as well. The income level of our target audience is middle to upper class as these people can associate with Ally, Ashley, and Sarah since they are in the same financial range. Because our target audience are primarily in high school and college, they are (usually) still being supported by their parents, like Ally, Sarah, Ally, and Patty, making it reasonable to market to the middle to upper class. -Social Media Pages: By making social media pages for  Kidnap , they are marketing to a younger audience since in 2017, 2.46 billion people in the world used social media (Statista 2019) and 86% of these users are 18 to 29 years o...
