Target Audience Research: Get Out

Our target audience for The Neighbor is advertised to people within the age range of 14-23 that live in the United States as they can relate to the high schoolers in our film since they currently go to high school or went a few years ago. The gender of our target audience is primarily young women since the main characters in The Neighbor are women as well. The income level of our target audience is middle to upper class as these people can associate with Ally, Ashley, and Sarah since they are in the same financial range. Because our target audience are primarily in high school and college, they are (usually) still being supported by their parents, like Ally, Sarah, Ally, and Patty, making it reasonable to market to the middle to upper class.

Billboard: By using billboards, Get Out is marketing to everyone since most people drive and the ones who can't usually ride in cars meaning that almost everyone will see this. "DO YOU BELONG IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD?" By asking this question in large words, the movie is drawing a middle to upper class crowd as most people with their income live in nice neighborhoods like this one presented on the billboard. By saying "GET OUT" the movie marketing team is attempting to make the viewer question on why they need to get out and what is wrong with their neighborhood eventually making them want to watch the movie out of being intrigued and interested.

Social Media Pages: By making social media pages for Get Out, they are marketing to a younger audience since in 2017, 2.46 billion people in the world used social media (Statista 2019) and 86% of these users are 18 to 29 years old (Cohen 2017). By making their mark on the younger generation, the younger people will follow the movie's page to get more details on it, send it to their friends via direct message, or retweet/post the movie's pictures or tweets on their feed.

Famous People: By having Soulja Boy, Sasha Banks, and Rudy Mancuso shout out Get Out, they are advertising their movie to a younger crowd as younger people use twitter and are familiar with these famous people. Since Soulja Boy, Sasha Banks, and Rudy Mancuso are supporting Get Out, more people will want to watch the movie as they trust the famous people's input and want to see the movie to see what all the excitement is about it.
Interviews: The interviews done by the characters of Get Out advertise the upcoming movie by answering questions about the process filming it, the general message of the movie, and playing games to promote it. By watching the interviews done by the Get Out cast, the viewers will be interested in the movie and potentially want to watch it as it is a psychological horror film with an original, different plot than other horror films usually have. Also, the viewers might like the actors personality making them eager to watch the film in theaters.

The Neighbor and Get Out relate as both films have a horror/thriller genre and they are advertising to a younger crowd, as am I. Get Out was a very successful movie as they used good social media tactics and did entertaining interviews. To make my film as prosperous as Get Out, I will use the social media strategies to inform my target audience, young people, about my upcoming film. I will also set up interviews with the main characters of The Neighbor to entertain people with my new upcoming film. Hopefully people who watch the interview will like the actors who have the main roles in The Neighbor because they will eventually want to watch it.
