Final Submission

Image
In our final submission, we changed our font to Courier New Bold as it looked like a typewriter's letters. We thought that this was more suitable than our original font, DIN Alternate Bold, as it fit our thriller movie better because this font looked like the font in movies and television shows investigators use when they are searching for a missing person. Also, we gave credit to our incidental music, which is Drone Dark Suspense 3. iMovie created this sound so we gave the proper credit to the creators in the beginning of our film with the rest of our opening credits.

We integrated the use of technologies-software and hardware when filming The Neighbor . We used my iPhone 8 Plus to film, my MacBook Pro and iMovie to edit, and Spotify to play the source music in the beginning of our film. By using the iPhone 8 Plus during our project, it helped us shoot our films more conveniently as the device is lighter to carry around and the clips are easier to transport over to the MacBook Pro when editing. We used T80P HD at 30 frames per second when shooting our film. This is because we wanted high quality clips, but at the same time we wanted to have more storage on our phone so we could take more clips and pick the best ones. When shooting our film, we used the music application Spotify on my MacBook Pro to show Ally listening to Payphone by Maroon 5. By using Spotify, we were able to play the bubbly and playful song to indicate that Ally and her friends live a carefree and fun life as she is popular and privileged. After shooting our film, we used my...

When filming The Neighbor , my production skills have improved immensely. Not only did I edit and film all the scenes I was not in, but I kept our team on track with our blogs and helped them to the best of my ability with any questions they had about our film. In the beginning of filming, I was very overwhelmed with all of the blogs I had to complete and all of the deadlines. I was also nervous that my filming and editing skills would disappoint my group as I never used iMovie to edit videos and when I film, my hands tend to get shaky. With the help of my teacher and my team, I started to get more comfortable with my role in our film and the blogs. My teacher taught me great time management skills with the blogs and broke each of them down so I would not overwhelm myself. Also, I watched many tutorials on how to use iMovie so that I could  learn how to properly use the system and do the best editing I could. To keep my phone from shaking when I was filming, I would use a table t...

The Neighbor utilizes conventions like different fonts, wardrobe, incidental music, and camera shots. Because of our conventions in out film, it helped our class understand our film's plot. Our film is engaging as it is a horror/thriller that shows how a girl in high school, Sarah, get's kidnapped by Patty, a loner and stalker, as Sarah is best friends with Ally, the person who mainly bullies Patty. Patty kidnaps Sarah as revenge on Ally for being mean to her for most of her high school years. Also, our audience is in suspense as our film cuts off when Sarah is missing and Patty is seen to hold a knife in Ally's kitchen. Since Patty is the antagonist in The Neighbor , my group and I decided to dress myself up in all black and wear black eyeshadow to give off a scary vibe. Ally is our movies' protagonist and this can be seen through her wardrobe as she wears cute and trendy clothing. Ashely and Sarah also wear fashionable clothing, following Ally's lead and this s...
