Target Audience Research: A Quiet Place

Our target audience for The Neighbor is advertised to people within the age range of 14-23 that live in the United States as they can relate to the high schoolers in our film since they currently go to high school or went a few years ago. The gender of our target audience is primarily young women since the main characters in The Neighbor are women as well. The income level of our target audience is middle to upper class as these people can associate with Ally, Ashley, and Sarah since they are in the same financial range. Because our target audience are primarily in high school and college, they are (usually) still being supported by their parents, like Ally, Sarah, Ally, and Patty, making it reasonable to market to the middle to upper class.

-Billboards: By using billboards, A Quiet Place is advertising to everyone since most people drive and the ones who can't usually ride in cars meaning that almost everyone will see this. Also, the billboard shows a frightened picture of Emily Blunt with large words saying "IF THEY HEAR YOU THEY HUNT YOU" making people who drive past this interested on why she looks scared and who 'they' are eventually making the people want to watch the movie. By placing the famous Emily Blunt on the billboard, her fans will be happy to see that she is in an upcoming movie and want to watch it. Overall, billboards are great to use when trying to advertising to everyone.

-Social Media Pages: By making social media pages for A Quiet Place, they are marketing to a younger audience since in 2017, 2.46 billion people in the world used social media (Statista 2019) and 86% of these users are 18 to 29 years old (Cohen 2017). By making their mark on the younger generation, they follow the movie's page to get more details on it, send it to their friends via direct message, or retweet/post the movie's pictures or tweets on their feed.

-Television interviews: Who doesn't love Ellen? Ellen is a television personality who brings people in with her funny celebrity interviews and game shows. According to Wikipedia, there are over 4.2 million people watching each of her episodes in 2018. By marketing A Quiet Place through Ellen, all over 4.2 million people will see that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are in a new thriller movie and will possibly like it as Ellen, a nice, funny, and relatable person, is advertising it.

-Actors shoutout film: Many know John Krasinski as Jim from the hilarious television series, The Office. Because of his major role of playing Jim and his roles in other shows like Jack Ryan, John Krasinski has gained up to 2.1 million followers on Instagram, a social media app, and by shouting out his film, his fans will most likely want to watch it since he is in it.

After researching A Quiet Place, our films genres are the same, thriller/horror. Also, by using social media to advertise to the younger generation, we have around the same target audiences as we are both marketing to young people. One marketing technique I would use that they did was putting up billboards with my film on it so that I can advertise to everyone and get more money by more people wanting to watch it. I would also use social media tactics to market to my target audience, 14-23 years old, since it is proven that more young people use social media than older people.
